The River Hills Trails were built in 1989 as a unique amenity within the River Hills Master Plan. The original tagline for River Hills was “Close to Tampa. Close to Nature”. Our private “back yard” trails include multiple trails. The primary motto for hikers is to “leave no trace”. Staying upon our marked trails is highly requested to keep the preserved area as pristine as humanly possible. These trails contain an abundance of wildlife and varieties of birds along with alligators, snakes, coyotes, turkey, wild boars up and down the Alafia River. The renovation of this tremendous asset is through the dedication of volunteer Members of River Hills and youth accumulating volunteer hours. Although the nature and fauna are primitive, a variety of features along the paths have been built to enable easier access and enjoyment. The Members of River Hills have a commitment to share our community with those that call the preserved area home. Hundreds visit the trails monthly with added activity predicted in the future when exercise apparatus is added to strengthen the health aspect of hiking.
