Outstanding Joe Lee Signature Course
Founded in 1989, River Hills Country Club was designed by the renowned golf course architect Joe Lee. River Hills is conveniently located in the River Hills Community adjacent to FishHawk, just 20 minutes from downtown Tampa.
The private Joe Lee Signature course is an 18 hole, par-72 layout measuring 7,007 yards from the championship tees. The lush tropical beauty and natural scenery of River Hills create the perfect backdrop for a great round of golf. The well protected greens, contoured fairways and the 67 perfectly placed bunkers make River Hills a true test of golf. Full of challenges for the more experienced golfer, River Hills is also forgiving enough to be enjoyable for players of all skill levels. Those that play the course for the first time rave about the playability and always comment that the greens and fairways are the best in the area.

Throughout the year, golfers of all calibers enjoy outstanding playing conditions on manicured Bermuda fairways and CHAMPION Dwarf Bermudagrass greens ~ the same putting surface found on 12 PGA Tour venues, including Pinehurst No. 2. In the National Turfgrass Evaluation, CHAMPION had STIMP meter speeds at nearly 2 feet faster than other ultradwarf grasses.

Jack Nicklaus once said that “Joe Lee has never built a bad golf course”. Considering the words of the greatest golfer of all time and one that has designed many of the most prestigious courses in the world; we believe that to be a great testimony to our golf course. Joe Lee's style is bold, daring and courageous with flashed bunkers, dog legs and superb use of bunkering, ponds, wetlands and elevated greens; River Hills Country Club possesses one the absolute best designs in Florida.
Lee infused design characteristics as he did at other courses like Abacoa, Boca West and Dubsdread in the style of his mentors Dick Wilson and Robert Trent Jones, Jr., who's courses are some of the best in the entire world.
Joe Lee might be the most prolific golf course architect you've never heard of. Over his 40-plus year career, Lee would leave a mark on some 200 golf courses. As Wilson's assistant, Lee would play a significant role in the design of several late Wilson courses, including LaCosta in Carlsbad, CA; The Blue Monster at Doral; Cog Hill in the suburbs of Chicago; Warwick Hills in suburban Detroit; and Bay Hill in Orlando. You will see many similarities here.
