Trails of River Hills

The River Hills Trails were built in 1989 as a unique amenity within the River Hills Master Plan. The original tagline for River Hills was “Close to Tampa. Close to Nature”.  Our private “back yard” trails include 4.2 miles of total trails that are tailored to different levels of hiking. For those looking for a place to exercise, the trails also offers 10 Fit-Trail stations and some well-groomed twisting trails for the mountain bikers out there.  These trails also contain an abundance of wildlife and varieties of birds along with the occasional alligators, snakes, or wild boar that live along the Alafia River. The on-going renovation of this tremendous asset is accomplished through the dedication of volunteer Members of River Hills as well as youth accumulating volunteer hours. Although the nature and fauna are primitive, a variety of features along the paths have been built to enable easier access and enjoyment. The primary motto for hikers is to “leave no trace”. In an effort to keep the preserved area as pristine as humanly possible, staying on the marked trails is highly requested. The Members of River Hills have a commitment to share our community with those that call the preserved area home.
